Frequently Asked Questions
Do viewers need the extension to see hotspots?
Yes, currently viewers need the free TouchPoint extension installed to see interactive hotspots. We're building this as a network - as more people install the extension, more creators can reach them with interactive content. Think of it like viewing VR content - you need a VR headset.
You can embed your interactive video on your site where the extension isn't needed.
Can I use this on existing videos?
Absolutely! That's the whole point. You don't need to re-upload videos. Just add interactivity to any YouTube or Vimeo videos by adding the #TouchPoint code to the description. All your views, comments, and engagement stay intact.
Does this violate YouTube's terms of service?
No. The TouchPoint extension is a browser tool that enhances the viewing experience, similar to ad blockers, video speed controllers, or translation tools. It doesn't modify YouTube's servers or violate their API terms. The extension only affects what users with the extension installed see in their own browser.
Can I remove or change hotspots after publishing?
Yes! That's one of the best features. You can update, add, remove, or completely redesign hotspots anytime without touching the video. Changes appear instantly for all viewers. Want to remove all interactivity? Just delete the #TouchPoint code from the description.
What happens if someone doesn't have the extension?
They watch the video normally. Nothing breaks or looks weird. The #TouchPoint code in the description is just text to them. They can still click your regular YouTube description links like always.
How do analytics work?
Every click on a hotspot is tracked and sent to your TouchPoint dashboard. You can see: total clicks per hotspot, click-through rates, which parts of the video get the most engagement, viewer behavior patterns, and conversion data. All tracked anonymously and GDPR-compliant.
Can I add hotspots to someone else's video?
Technically yes, but ethically you should only add interactivity to videos you own or have permission to enhance. The system is designed for creators to enhance their own content. Think of it like creating a video response or reaction - you can do it, but respect copyright and ownership.
Will this work on mobile?
Currently the Chrome extension works on desktop browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera). Mobile browser extensions have limitations. We're exploring mobile app solutions and non-extension implementations for the future. For now, it's a desktop-first experience.
What X, Facebook, or other platforms?
YouTube and Vimeo support is live now. Other platforms like Facebook Video, LinkedIn, Wistia, and Dailymotion are on the roadmap. The same $5/month subscription will work across all platforms as we add them.
Is there a free trial?
No, it's just $5/month and you can cancel anytime.
